A 20-year-old man was arrested after pulling a BB gun on a pizza delivery driver near Knights Plaza early Saturday morning, according to an arrest report from the UCF Police Department.
Niyazi Hasanov, of Orlando, was arrested at about 4 p.m. Saturday on charges of aggravated assault with a deadly weapon, according to the report.
Courtney Gilmartin, a UCF police spokeswoman, said Hasanov is not a UCF student.
At about 1:20 a.m. Saturday, the UCFPD patrol division responded to Garage H after a pizza delivery driver said he had a gun pulled on him at North Gemini Boulevard and West Plaza Drive, the report said.
The victim told police he noticed a 2006 White Lexus IS300 occupied by three males flash its headlights at him. The vehicle then pulled about 6 feet away from his driver window and Hasanov began yelling at him, the report said.
While Hasanov was yelling, he displayed what the victim believed was a semi-automatic, black pistol through the window, the victim told police. The weapon was later identified by police as a BB gun.
While reviewing the information, a UCFPD officer noticed the Lexus matched a vehicle that UCF Deputy Chief Brett Meade performed a traffic stop on Friday. During that stop, the driver of the vehicle was identified as Orkhan Alaskarov, a UCF student, and the registered owner was identified as Hasanov.
When police spoke with Hasanov, he said he was on the UCF campus dropping off his friend at Tower II early Saturday. Hasanov said a Black Mazda approached and he got into a verbal altercation with the driver.
The other passengers in the vehicle were identified as Farid Alasgarli, a former UCF student, and Izzat Huseynov, a current UCF student, according to the report.
Hasanov is being held in the Orange County Jail without bond, the report said.
