On Wednesday afternoon, a University of Central Florida student was arrested on eight offenses after allegedly filming underage girls inside a CFE Arena bathroom stall.
The girls were attending a cheerleading camp, and one girl noticed 21-year-old Jonathan Justin Hui filming her from under a bathroom stall. The girl then quickly reported the incident to her teammates and coach.
Hui, an international and global studies major, attempted to flee the scene of the incident by running, but sophomore wide receiver Tristan Payton chased down and tackled Hui with the help of assistant football coach Joseph Horton.
“It is an unfortunate incident that happened here on our campus,” said UCF Police Chief Richard Beary. “Unfortunately, it happens all too common in society today, but these two brave individuals were at the right place, at the right time.”
Payton and Horton accelerated into action after they were notified of the incident. The suspect did not have time to delete the videos and photos, according to Beary.
The girls were high school aged, both 16, and the camp is still continuing as scheduled.
The suspect has posted bond from an Orange County jail.
