Critical Success: The Story Behind YouTube's BlackCriticGuy from Knightbeat on Vimeo.

Antonio “Tony” Whatley found his calling when he was just 16 years old. After moving to the U.S. from Guam, he discovered he had a unique interest, one unlike many other teenagers: reviewing movies and anime films/series. After being inspired by his brother’s YouTube videos, he sat himself in front of a camera for the first time in 2010 – and BlackCriticGuy (formerly theblackanimeguy) was born. Since his first video, he has done over 300 reviews and has more than 27,000 subscribers. His videos have been so successful that he began getting paid for them in 2013.
