Whether it’s 7:30 a.m. on a Saturday morning or 12:30 p.m. on a Thursday afternoon, members of the Orlando Gooners gather at The Sideline Pub at XL Soccer World to support Arsenal Football Club. Arsenal is an English soccer team whose time zone is five hours ahead of Orlando, Florida. Senior psychology major Andrew Johnson, his mother and his grandfather are among those individuals who frequent the pub to bond with fellow supporters of the England-based soccer club. With soccer playing on the TV, there’s also food, beer, fellowship and even some praying among the group, which likens itself to a church congregation. The group celebrates together and cries together — all for its beloved Arsenal Gunners.
