Thousands of UCF students surround the reflecting pond on campus, a landmark that is typically off limits except for once a year for Spirit Splash. This homecoming tradition allows students to charge into the pond, and gives them a chance to catch homecoming rubber ducks.Â

UCF mascot Knightro pumps up the crowd with UCF cheerleaders as thousands of participants wait on the outskirts of the reflecting pond for Spirit Splash on Friday. Prepared for the splash, Knightro wore his swim trunks to the annual event.

Holding three rubber ducks in her hand, Jasmine Brown, senior biomedical major, stands on the right side of the reflecting pond at Spirit Splash on Friday. Brown said the past two years she was unable to obtain a lucky duck, but this year she was very excited about the turnout. "I plan on keeping one duck and giving the other two to my friends," Brown said, "I'll probably come back next year to get another duck as tradition."

A UCF student celebrates after the throwing of rubber ducks by sitting on the shoulders of another and raising her duck in the air at Spirit Splash on Friday. More participants left the event without a duck, than those who were lucky enough to catch one.
